Questions About My 49er Federal Credit Union Membership as of 1/8/14
Q: As a 49er FCU Member where do I conduct my transactions?
A: Although the merger is effective as of January 1, 2014, we will continue to operate as two separate
entities as we work to integrate your accounts to our data processing systems during the weekend of
June 1, 2014. Until then, please continue to conduct your transactions with 49er FCU office at 225
Placerville Drive in Placerville. Once the conversion is completed, the Placerville office located at 225
Placerville Drive will be temporarily closed for constructions/renovations.
Q: What if I have questions about the merger and conversion process?
A: A special 800 number for 49er Federal Credit Union Members to call for assistance has been set
up and it is 1-855-702-2364 and it routes to a local number of 1-530-645-5949. Call Center
Specialists have been assigned to this number to assist 49er FCU members. Both the Sierra Central
and 49er FCU website(s) have been updated to include information about the merger and merger
process. The site(s) will be updated to include current information and details regarding the merger.
Q: What will happen to my deposits?
A: We will transfer to Sierra Central Credit Union all money that you have on deposit with us on June
01, 2014. Your Certificates of Deposit will continue to earn the same dividend rate and will mature on
the date originally scheduled. Your 49er FCU Credit Union Money Market Account will be
transferred to a Sierra Central Credit Union Money Market Account and will earn the same dividend
rate currently in effect at 49er FCU. Your main savings will be transferred to a Sierra Central Credit
Union Regular Savings Account and will earn the same dividend rate currently in effect at Sierra
Q: What will happen to my member number at 49er FCU?
A: Your account number will change as a result of the conversion. You will receive your new number
about 2 weeks prior to the merger consolidation.
Q: Will my checking account remain the same and will my current checks still be valid?
A: Your checking account will be converted to a Sierra Central Checking Account with similar terms
and conditions as your 49er FCU checking account. You will receive the terms and conditions on this
account prior to conversion. You can continue to use your checks until the date of conversion. You
will receive a new supply of checks from Sierra Central. On the conversion date, June 1, 2014, all
balances will be transferred to your new Sierra Central account and you should begin using your
Sierra Central checks on and after that date.
Q: Will I have to sign new signature cards for my 49er FCU account(s)?
A: It is always in your best interest to review your account ownership and beneficiary information to
ensure the information is accurate and up-to-date. Over time it may be necessary to complete new
signature cards with Sierra Central.
Q: Will my direct deposit and payroll deduction stay the same?
A: If you currently have direct deposit of your payroll check or payroll deduction at 49er FCU, Sierra
Central will provide a process to automatically transfer direct deposits and payroll deductions to your
Sierra Central Credit Union account.
Q: What should I do about my Debit Card from 49er FCU?
A: Your Debit Card will no longer be valid after June 1, 2014. Sierra Central Credit Union will mail
you a new Debit card prior to June 1, 2014. After you receive your new Debit card you will need to
activate the card and select your Personal Identification Number (PIN) at that time. (Please note that
Sierra Central Credit Union terms and conditions regarding Debit cards will then apply).
Q: Will my loan balances be automatically transferred to Sierra Central Credit Union?
A: Yes. We will arrange for any loan balances that you currently have with us to be transferred directly
to Sierra Central Credit Union at the original terms and rates. You can, as always, prepay any of these
loans without penalty.
Q: What should I do about my 49er FCU VISA?
A: Your 49er FCU VISA will stay in effect throughout the merger process. Sierra Central Credit
Union offers VISA cards and at some point in the future you will be asked to convert your 49er VISA
to a Sierra Central VISA card.
Q: What will happen to the 49er FCU employees?
A: It is important to note that Sierra Central will maintain the on-site branch and the current employees
will continue to serve you.
Q: What will happen to the credit union office at 225 Placerville Drive, Placerville CA?
A: As soon as possible, after the conversion date of June 1, 2014, it is the plan of Sierra Central to
conduct some major facility renovations of the office located at 225 Placerville Drive. During the
renovation period, business will be conducted at our office located at 3964-B Missouri Flat Road.
The renovation plans for the Placerville Drive office will include upgraded technology, updated
furnishings and décor representing Sierra Central’s community brand. The timeline for the
renovation/construction has not yet been determined and could take several months to complete.
After the renovation/construction has been completed the office located at 225 Placerville Drive will
become the Sierra Central Placerville primary location.
Q: How will I know the new terms and conditions, including new fees, at Sierra Central Credit Union?
A: In May 2014, you will be mailed a new Disclosure Booklet which describes the terms and
conditions governing your new Sierra Central Credit Union account.
Q: How can I get more information on the 49er FCU/Sierra Central CU merger?
A: Information regarding the merger process will be posted on Sierra Central’s website on a special
page for 49er FCU members. The page will be updated frequently to ensure important information is
provided as soon as it is readily available. You can also contact our Member Services Call Center and
speak to a 49er merger specialist or you can visit the current Placerville branch location to inquire.
Q: Will Sierra Central continue to service accounts for the membership living and working in the South
Lake Tahoe area?
A: Sierra Central will attempt to continue the relationship with Bank of The West in South Lake Tahoe
to handle transactions. In addition Sierra Central offers withdrawal/transfer access at Co-Op ATMs
and there are three Co-Op ATM’s in the South Lake Tahoe area.
Q: Will my accounts be insured?
A: Yes, your accounts will continue to be federally insured through the National Credit Union Share
Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), to at least $250,000. However Sierra Central is regulated by the
